Oracle eyes logistics, transportation software market in India
published: cw 50, 2005 in Supply Chain SoftwareEnterprise software company Oracle is seeking to make headway in the Indian logistics and transportation software market, with the acquisition of G-Log, a logistics management platform provider for industry.
Oracle Corporation’s Senior Vice-President-Manufacturing Supply Chain, Applications, Rick Jewell, is currently on a visit to India to strengthen relations with Satyam, Hexaware and HCL, with whom US-based G-Log had system integration (SI) tie-ups.
More Indian SIs are in talks with Oracle in regard to logistics management platform of G-Log which Oracle acquired earlier this month, Jewell told reporters here.
Oracle views India, along with China, as the biggest market in this space, he said. There would be development staff teams in India and the US to provide support to the platform, Jewell said.
Oracle is already in talks with 3-4 prospective Indian clients seeking logistics solutions, he said.
India is Oracle’s fourth-largest market in Asia in terms of revenue, and accounts for the NASDAQ-listed firm’s largest research and development investment outside the US.
