Shanghai Port poised to exceed 20 million TEU in 2006

Terminals at Yangshan Port Phase I handled 13200 containers (218 moves per hour), thereby achieving a record performance. This is the highest volume recorded since its opening. Shanghai Port anticipates moving more than 20 million TEU in 2006, exceeding container throughput of 18 million TEU in 2005. The handling efficiency of quayside cranes at Yangshan Port has outperformed the average of the Shanghai terminals.

DHL Offers New Software for Small, Medium-Sized Shippers

DHL has launched new shipping software for small and medium-sized business shippers. EasyShip Professional automates the entire shipping process for customers that prefer to use their own computer hardware, DHL said. The standalone application can be installed on a PC to process shipments offline, without the need for a constant internet connection to DHL servers.

Schneider Logistics, Inc. Announces Pending Acquisition of American Overseas Air Freight

Schneider Logistics, Inc., an international lead logistics provider and part of the Schneider National enterprise, announced today that it has signed a stock purchase agreement to acquire American Overseas Air Freight, an international freight forwarder and a licensed United States Customs Broker. The company specializes in the handling and shipping of import and export products by air, ocean and truck. Upon completion of the acquisition, Schneider National will be the first truckload carrier to complete the cycle of international to inland delivery. Terms of the transaction are not being disclosed.
