K+N acquires Estonian forwarding company

In a bid to expand its overland activities in the Baltics, Swiss logistics firm Kuehne + Nagel (K+N) has acquired the Estonian forwarding company EM Trans and its subsidiaries, with retroactive effect from January 1, 2006.

ACR buy lifts KN into top 3

Kuehne & Nagel (KN) will complete most of the integration of ACR by the end of this month and is not planning any other major contract logistics acquisitions for at least the next year.
Contract logistics specialist ACR was rebranded as KN this month and the completion of the acquisition takes the company to number three worldwide and in the UK.
Dirk Reich, executive VP for contract logistics, said the company was constantly looking at opportunities and said there would be a number of small announcements, but the only possible major acquisitions by KN would be to strengthen its overland European network. Previously it was ranked around nine or 10 worldwide and number 35 in the UK.

Deutsche Post World Net launches new, global quality initiative

Deutsche Post World Net is advancing its corporate strategy to sharpen customer focus, improve product and service quality, and become the preferred logistics provider for customers worldwide. A program named “First Choice” will support the strategy through 2009. The Group also wants to be the employer of choice for managers and employees and a first choice investment for shareholders.

TNT Reports Earnings; Logistics Shows Loss

Reported as ?discontinued operations? in the full-year results of parent TNT, TNT Logistics showed an operating loss of ?17 million. That loss included French logistics operations, which the company sold. Excluding France, TNT Logistics generated ?3.3 billion in revenue with an operating margin of 4.1%. The company says plans to sell TNT Logistics are on track.

Leading international mail services company, DHL Global Mail and Japan’s top door-to-door mail and parcel delivery company, Yamato Transport Co., Ltd. (Yamato) have joined forces to offer an international mail delivery service in Japan to customers world wide. DHL Global Mail, the international mail subsidiary of Deutsche Post World Net, formerly known as Deutsche Post Global Mail has relaunched under the DHL brand in October and runs the world?s largest mail network.

Panalpina 2005: Successful IPO and further significant increase of results

Panalpina, the Swiss-based global transport and logistics group, reports strong results for 2005. The Company increased its gross revenue by 11.3% and its net forwarding revenue by 13.8% to CHF 6,962 million, achieved mostly by pure organic growth and reflecting the positive economic trend for the forwarding and logistics industry. Net earnings improved by 20.3% to CHF 120.3 million. The restructuring in North America started to show promising results.

2005 ? K+N Improved performance and strategic investments lay foundation for future expansion

The global logistics group Kuehne + Nagel increased turnover by 21.5 per cent to CHF 14,048.9 million in 2005. At CHF 453.9 million, the operational result (EBITA) exceeded the previous year?s high level by 19.0 per cent. Net earnings improved 32.3 per cent to CHF 315.0 million, a new record result in the company?s 116-year history.
