K+N not interested in TNT’s logistics business

Swiss logistics firm Kuehne + Nagel has said it is not interested in bidding for TNT’s logistics business, according to reports. Rumors were circulating that K+N may be interested in acquiring the division due to the convergence of interests between the two businesses. However, Reuters has indicated that the firm is focusing its attentions specifically on the Asia-Pacific area and would not want to take on TNT’s global business.

Thiel sees future ‘fraught with uncertainties’

European logistics provider Thiel Logistik, which has faced a number of operating problems over the past few years, has released its results for 2005. Management commented that it had had another eventful year although it had been satisfactory overall. Most of its corporate units reported growth and sales increased by 6.3% to ?1.8 billion (2004: ?1.7 billion). Its air and ocean business was one of the highlights and it also received an impetus from Asia and Eastern European regions.

DHL provides 2006 guidance; US challenges remain

Presenting Deutsche Post World Net?s annual results at a press conference in Bonn, Germany, its CEO Klaus Zumwinkel has announced that revenue increased by 3.3% to ?44.6 billion. Meanwhile profit from operating activities increased by 25.1% to ?3.8 billion, slightly ahead of earlier expectations.
