PierPASS changes procedures for handling export containers

PierPASS Inc. has announced new procedures for handling export containers under the OffPeak program at the Ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach. Beginning Monday, August 7, 2006, exporters delivering containers during peak hours will be required to claim their booking numbers before the containers arrive at the marine terminals.

Maersk downgrades forecasts

A.P. M?ller ? M?rsk has issued a trading update, downgrading its earlier financial forecasts. The shipping group stated that a number of factors important to expectations for the total net result for 2006 had changed since the annual report 2005 was publicized in March 2006.

SHI builds 9,600 TEU container ship

Korea?Samsung Heavy Industries (SHI) introduced its 9,600 TEU container ship and handed it over to Chinas CGS, the ship owner late last week. This container ship, named Xin Los Angeles, is the largest ever to be built in the world at 321 meters long and 46 meters wide.
