Maersk and APM Terminals invest in European ports
published: cw 22, 2006 in Logistics & ShippingMaersk, a container-shipping line, announced its subsidiary, APM Terminals? joint venture with French stevedoring group Perrigault SA?termed Terminal Porte Oceane?has signed a concession agreement with the Port Autonome du Have re to operate and manage a new container terminal in Port 2000, Le Havre.
The terminal is schedule for opening in the fall of 2007 and features over 2,000 feet of berth, with ancillary services, and a full suite of container handling equipment including post Panamax ship to shore cranes.
The joint venture has been approved by the French Competition Authorities.
Maersk is the world?s largest container-shipping line, controlling more than 20 percent of container shipping capacity.
