DHL Global Mail Forms Joint Venture in Japan for Mail Services

The arrangement will offer a full range of direct marketing services, the company said. DHL Global Mail will hold 49 percent of the shares, and Yamato Holdings 51 percent.
Deutsche Post World Net claims to be the first foreign service provider to enter the Japanese mail market. The two partners have been cooperating since 2004 in the area of international mail delivery. Yamato is one of Japan’s leading private-sector providers of letter and parcel delivery, with revenues of nearly $9.7bn.
The deal gives national and international customers in Japan direct marketing services from a single source. Options range from planning direct marketing campaigns, including address management, to the production of direct marketing mail and delivery in Japan, all the way to response evaluation.
