Hellmann agrees alliance with US minority company
published: cw 03, 2006 in Mergers & acquisitionsMiami based Hellmann Worldwide Logistics and SCM Global Logistics, a US ethnic minority owned business, have entered an alliance to create a range of supply chain solutions. During the five-year agreement, Hellmann will give SCM access to its technology and to a worldwide network. The relationship will also allow Hellmann to enter new sectors and access a more diverse client base.
Hellmann?s management commented that corporate purchasing from ethnic minority businesses has grown 60% since 2000 to an annual level of over $87 billion. Supplier diversity is a major corporate trend in the US whereby larger corporate companies are encouraged to use businesses owned by ethnic minorities. The alliance will allow SCM to take advantage of this pattern of growth by accessing a worldwide infrastructure. Hellmann and SCM will provide both US domestic as well as international outsourcing supply chain solutions.
