Manhattan tops WMS ? but SAP is closing in

published: cw 27, 2006 in Supply Chain Software

Warehouse management systems (WMS) vendor, Manhattan Associates, came out on top of an assessment of WMS providers against 191 criteria that included looking at the impact of service-based architecture, RFID, and integrated supply chain capabilities.

The analysis found best-of-breed vendors still dominating the category, while researchers notes that ERP vendor, SAP, has made a concerted effort to close the gap. The report notes that companies evaluating WMS technology need to determine how strongly they value unique aspects of their existing processes when selecting an WMS provider, as some WMS solutions support existing processes while others perform best if the customer adopts vendor-developed processes.
