Ford end pilot on application of RFID on lift trucks

Car manufacturer Ford should already have stopped the RFID-pilot, which he recently has started. Ford aimed by the use of RFID on lift trucks in the factories of the company, cost could be reduced. It was the intention that the application of RFID could get more insight in the status of battery used on the lift trucks.

By the use of RFID, real-time data could be provided with information concerning the condition and temperature of the battery, detects complications in the chargers and in other applications.

Unfortunately for Ford it goes not well with the company at this moment. Recently Ford has announced that 34,000 employees have to look for to another job in the coming six years. With this enormous reorganisation Ford believed that it was not the right time to invest in this type of RFID-applications.
