RedPrairie Acquires StorePerform

RedPrairie Corp. acquired StorePerform Technologies, Inc. , a provider of store execution management software. StorePerform will become part of RedPrairie?s Retail Productivity Solutions division (formerly BlueCube Software). With this acquisition, RedPrairie will reportedly offer an integrated workforce management solution that combines store execution management solutions with optimized labor scheduling, time and attendance, and training management.

Zebra acquires RTLS supplier WhereNet

Zebra Technologies has announced its intent to acquire WhereNet, a leading supplier of active RFID tags and real time location systems (RTLS). The $126 million deal is expected to close by the end of the month. The acquisition is Zebra’s first step into the active RFID market.

More rumours on Schenker’s European acquisition plans

More rumours have emerged over Deutsche Bahn/Schenker’s plans for expansion by acquisition. Reports in the FT Deutschland, quoting amongst others Hans-Joerg Hager, Managing Director of Schenker AG, claim that Schenker is planning acquisitions in Spain or Portugal, Britain and Italy. These sources state that Deutsche Bahn/Schenker will spend around ?1 billion on these acquisitions.

Rotterdam handles record volumes in 2006

In 2006, 377 million tonnes of goods were handled in the port of Rotterdam, 1.7% up on 2005 and a new record. Outgoing trade showed more marked growth than incoming, at 4 and 1% respectively.
