2006: everybody wanted to watch the Hyundai Fortune on fire

In the past year 2006 the most popular article on eLogistics Trendwatch was the fire of the Hyundai Fortune. Numerous visitors found this article via Google, the newsletter or via a direct hit on this website. An top ten of most visited articles.

Remarkable was that the viewers were most interested in the news about mergers and acquisitions. The buying of Exel by Deutsche Post and Bax by German Railroad, the rumors about TNT, the future of Hapag Lloyd and the clearance of the sell of P&O Nedlloyd to Maersk were all ranked in the top ten. Furthermore a lot of vistitors on the expansion of the top 3PL and the opportunities and treats for the container business.

One year ago, we predicted that the consolidation process would continue in 2006. But, except for the predicted sell of TNT logistics, no major take-overs were done. We are still expecting take-over from UPS, FedEx and Maersk, and it will be not unlikely that Panalpina and Kuehne & Nagel we make major moves this year. But it didn’t happen as predicted.

For the past year we thank you for your visit, and for 2007 we hope to meet you again.
