NYK to consolidate Japanese logistics operations
published: cw 12, 2007 in Mergers & acquisitionsJapanese shipping and logistics group NYK has announced it will consolidate its two Japan logistics subsidiaries, JIT Corporation and NYK Logistics Japan Co. Ltd., under the sole name of NYK Logistics Japan Co. Ltd., which will remain headquartered in Tokyo.
JIT Corporation was founded in 1983 as an NVOCC (Nonvessel Operating Common Carrier), and the company attained sales of about 12.4 billion yen in fiscal 2005. The company states that this merger will allow the two companies to unite NYK Logistics Japan’s supply-chain solutions with the long-term customer relationships established by JIT, giving the company the capacity to offer more customer-centric services.
