For supply chains to keep pace with an increasingly complex global market, innovation is essential. Professor Sheffi from MIT presented at the Supply Chain Conference “Crossroads 2007″ in Zaragoza his top ten of supply chain innovations

In the Past 40 years the supply chain has been changed. The most impact has given:

3. emphasis on stock management
4. emphasis on lean processes
5. real-tiem control by tracking and tracing
6. yield management
7. digital commununication (f.e. edi)
8. application of supply chain software
9. rise of modern purchasing methods, like internet auctions
10. innovative supply chain networks (re)design

Dr. Yossi Sheffi is a professor at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, where he serves as Director of the MIT Center for Transportation and Logistics. He is an expert in transportation networks analysis, systems optimization, logistics, supply chain management, and electronic commerce, which are the subjects he teaches and researches at MIT. He is the author of numerous scientific publications and a book on transportation networks optimization. Under his leadership, the Center launched many new educational, research, and industry/government outreach programs, leading to substantial growth. In 1997 he launched a new Master of Engineering degree at MIT in logistics and supply chain management. In 2003 he launched the MIT-Zaragoza program, building a new logistics university in Spain based on a unique international academia, government and industry partnership.
